MIKU > AN CAFE
INFORMATIONAn Cafe is often spelled "An Cafe", "Antic Cafe", "Antique Cafe" etc, but I'll stick with An Cafe, because that's what they write themselves (official webside, CD's and stuff). In Japanese, their band name would be "アンティック -珈琲店-" (Antekku Kohiten) which basically means "Antique Café". They are described as "Oshare Kei", where colorful, cute clothes are being worn, as well as making happy-nyappy music. BIOGRAPHY The band was formed in May 2003 by Miku, Kanon and Bou. Miku had just left his former band, Revirii, two months earlier. At this time, Bou was searching for a band, as the guitarist, and he saw this announcement on the internet which he signed up for. Now the band was formed, and they performed their songs on several places, but without a drummer. They weren't known by many people, but they became more and more popular by the time. They released two demos at this time, containing; Opu-Ngu, and Uzumaki Senshokutai/Hatsukoi. Teruki left his band, Feathers-blue, in August and after that he became the drummer in An Cafe. The next year, they started some serious playing. You'd say that their first year was kind of a "test" year. They were soon signed to the independent record company Loop Ash, and released a new maxi-single in March, called Candy Holic. The 2000 copies were sold immediately. In June, they released another single, called v69, and again the now 5000 copies were sold out right away. Cosmos, their now newest single released in November, was placed 5th on Oricon Charts List. This year was celebrated by doing concerts in Takadanobaba Area and Yokohama aka Renga Hall. In February 2005, they published their fist mini-album called Amedama Rock. A month later, the single Karakuri Hitei was released.
During the summer, they released three one-song singles; Tekesuta Kousen, Escapism and Merry Making, all with their own unique PV (Music Video).
These three songs were put in their first full album, Shikisai Moment, in November 2005. In 2006, they was on a tour called Nyappy Go Around in Japan. They also released two new singles; 10's Collection March and Bonds ~Kizuna~. An Cafe later made their own short movie, called Kyu ~Bonds Movie~. Smile Ichiban Ii Onna was performed for the first time in the Yoyogi Park in Japan, and was later published as a single in September. A Live DVD was made from the Yoyogi Park performance, and it was sold out at once in just a few hours. In October, the band released another single called Snow Scene. Now finally, a new album, Magnya Carta, was released, which was the last album Bou was in. In 2007, they started another Nyappy Go Around 2 tour, on Miku's birthday (5th January). Not long after this tour, Bou announced that he will leave the band due to personal reasons. They held a last live performance with Bou on Hibiya Yagai Dai Ongakudou, on April 30th 2007.
NEW START, NEW MEMBERSIt was officially announced on May 18th 2007, that two new members were joining An Cafe. These two new persons were Yuuki (Keyboard) and Takuya (Guitar). Their official site was changed, and that was also their style. TODAY They have just released a new single on 22nd August 2007, called Kakusei Heroism ~The Hero Without a Name~, which the song titled the same was used in the second opening of the anime called Darker than Black. They also performed a live show in Germany together with the new band members. We are now waiting for the new single called Ryuusei Rocket, which will be released 7th November 2007. Back |
